"Goa Revisited: Scenic Routes, Seafood, and Sunsets"

Goa, with its blend of scenic beauty and vibrant culture, has always been a destination close to my heart. Recently, I had the chance to visit again, and this time, the journey itself was just as memorable as the destination.

We took the Panjim route via Ramnagar, which is known for its picturesque landscapes. The roads are smooth and well-maintained up to Ramnagar, but the 20-kilometer stretch from there to the Goa border is a bit of a challenge. However, once we crossed into Goa, the Arbail Ghats greeted us with their stunning beauty. The road here is like a ribbon of Dambur, winding through the mountains, offering breathtaking views. The monsoon season added to the charm, with waterfalls cascading down the hillsides, making the entire experience mesmerizing. Although we didn't click any pictures this time, the sights are etched in our memories, as this route is one we travel often.

Upon reaching Panjim, we headed straight for lunch. This trip was special as we decided to try something new—squids. While we are well-acquainted with seafood like fish, prawns, crab, shellfish, and lobsters, squids were a first for us, and my mom was the one who encouraged us to give them a try. To our delight, they were delicious, and we all enjoyed the new addition to our usual seafood fare.

In addition to our usual haunts, we decided to explore a new restaurant, thanks to an Instagram reel my mom had shared with me. Smita's Lakeview Restaurant, located about 30 minutes from our home, turned out to be a hidden gem. The view of the lake from the restaurant was simply breathtaking, and the ambiance was complemented by great music. Since it was Urrak season in Goa, we couldn’t resist trying this traditional Goan alcoholic drink. Urrak, available only during the monsoons, is handmade and has a distinct flavor that pairs perfectly with the serene lake view. The restaurant, run by Smita aunty and her children, had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. After our meal, Smita aunty personally came over to ask us about our experience, which added a personal touch to the whole dining experience.

Of course, no trip to Goa is complete without enjoying its stunning sunsets. We spent our evenings savoring Goa's famous Vadapav and our all-time favorite Shawarma while watching the sun dip below the horizon. The combination of good food, beautiful views, and the relaxed Goan vibe made this trip truly enjoyable.

In the end, it was a fun and fulfilling trip, filled with new experiences and cherished moments. Goa never fails to captivate, no matter how many times you visit.
